Join us in the Spectator boardroom on Friday 14 September for the next in this year’s series of Spectator Winemaker Lunches with Hugh Crichton, celebrated head winemaker at Vidal, part of the Villa Maria family of wineries in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
Hugh learned his trade working in Saint Emilion, Sicily and Central Otago before joining Vidal in 2004 and becoming head winemaker in 2006. His multi-award-winning Chardonnays, Syrahs and Bordeaux blends are leading expressions of their types and, having learned from his experiences in Europe, Hugh has concentrated on making stylish, food-friendly wines famed for their elegance. He is particularly well placed to discuss the wines of New Zealand and their standing in the wider wine world.
During a fine, informal four course cold lunch provided by Forman & Field, Hugh will present a wide range of Vidal’s wines including examples from the accessible Estate range right up to the flagship Legacy wines.
This promises to be a fascinating and hugely enjoyable occasion. We hope you will join us, and do book soon to avoid missing out.
