We’re clearing the decks and having a late summer sale — or rather our partner Mr Wheeler is. Fill your boots!

Mr W needs to make room for new vintages and new lines and is kindly offering Speccie readers exclusive first dibs on the following wines, each one of which I’ve tasted and each one of which I can heartily recommend, especially at these knockdown prices (my favourites marked * make up the mixed case). Anyway, enough waffling, I’ve got 18 wines to tell you about so I had best get cracking!

2014 Les Forts de Bories-Azeau Corbières Rouge (1) A full-on, spicy Languedoc red. Needs drinking up but is currently very moreish. £8 down from £9.50.

*2016 Pacifico Sur Pinot Noir Reserva (2) Nobody does entry-level Pinot as successfully as Chile and this is spot on. £8.50 down from £10.

2016 Pacifico Sur Chardonnay Reserva (3) From Chile’s Casablanca Valley, crammed with luscious ripe fruit. Corking value. £8.50 down from £10.

2017 Domaine de Bellevue Sauvignon de Touraine (4) Crisp, clean citrus fruit is the hallmark of this modestly priced Loire white. £9 down from £10.75.

*2017 Domaine de la Jasse Blanc de Blancs (5) A seductive Viognier/Chardonnay blend from Spectator readers’ favourite Languedoc estate. £9.75 down from £12.50.

2016 Terredirai Prosecco (6) There’s a lot of dreary Prosecco out there these days; this is anything but, being light, fresh and creamy. £9.75 down from £12.

2013 Sumaridge Estate White Blend (7) From Walker Bay in South Africa, a fresh and creamy Sauvignon/Semillon blend. £10 down from £12.75.

2013 Sumaridge Estate Syrah (8) A South African Syrah of real style with pepper, liquorice and rich, ripe plums and a deliciously long finish. £11.50 down from £14.50.

*2015 St-Hilaire Blanquette de Limoux (9) Gratifyingly classy fizz made in the Champagne method in France’s south-west. £12 down from £13.75.

*2016 Greenhough Sauvignon Blanc (10) Textbook Kiwi Savvy Blanc with buckets of tropical fruit and a zingy acidity. £12.50 down from £15.

2015 Muenzenrieder Heideboden Reserve (11) A disarmingly quaffable blend of Zweigelt, Blaufrankish, Cabernet and Merlot from Austria. £12.75 down from £16.

*2017 François Millet Sancerre Rosé (12) A glorious Pinot Noir rosé of such depth and character that it’s a complete steal. £14.50 down from £17.50.

2013 Moa Ridge Pinot Noir (13) From Marlborough, NZ, and full of rich plum–laden, slightly smoky fruit. £15 down from £22.

2014 Casa de Uco Malbec (14) If you like violet-scented Mendoza Malbec you’ll love this, particularly at this price. £16 down from £21.50.

2016 Greenhough Hope Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc (15) Richly textured single vineyard NZ Sauvignon from Nelson. Stunning. £16.50 down from £21.

*2014 Vieux Château Saint André (16) From the former winemaker of mighty Pétrus, a Merlot-based claret really to savour. £17.50 down from £21.

2001 Bodegas Urbina Rioja Reserva Especial (17) Fully mature Rioja such as this is always such a treat. £18.50 down from £21.50.

2015 Givry, Louis Latour (18) Seductive red burgundy from a stellar vintage. £21.50 down from £25.

The mixed case has two bottles each of the wines marked with an asterisk. Delivery, as ever, is free.
