Join us in the Spectator boardroom on Friday 20 March for the next in this year’s series of Spectator Winemaker Lunches with Mark Harvey, managing director of Chapel Down, the leading winery based near Tenterden, Kent, producer of superb, multi-award-wining still and traditional-method sparkling wines, not to mention beers, ciders and spirits.

We will enjoy an aperitif of the 2014 Kit’s Coty Blanc de Blancs – Chapel Downs’ first 100 per cent Chardonnay sparkler sourced from their Kit’s Coty single vineyard on the North Downs of Kent – followed by the 2018 Chapel Down Bacchus, the 2017 Kit’s Coty Bacchus, the 2016 Kit’s Coty Chardonnay, the 2018 Domaine Gayda Syrah (part of Chapel Down’s ground-breaking series of partnership wines marketed under the Great Minds Drink Alike label) and the utterly charming sweet 2017 Chapel Down Nectar.


Mark Harvey is uniquely placed to share his observations about English wine’s standing in the world having been a director of champagne giant Moët-Hennessy for many years before he joined Chapel Down and he will have much to say.
