Kelvin Hopkins suspended from the Labour whip

In the past few minutes, the Labour Party has announced that it is suspending one of its MPs, Kelvin Hopkins, on the basis of ‘allegations received’. Here is the full statement:

‘On the basis of allegations received by the Labour Party today, Kelvin Hopkins has been suspended from party membership, and therefore the Labour whip, while an investigation takes place.

‘The Labour Party takes all such complaints extremely seriously and has robust procedures in place to deal with them.’

The Telegraph has reported the allegations. They’re not the sort of accusations that any reasonable person would dismiss as ‘flirting’.
