There’s quite a stooshie this morning, following David Ward’s latest contribution to peace in the Middle East. The Liberal Democrat MP for Bradford East tweeted yesterday evening:

Readers will recall that Ward has form here: accusing ‘the Jews’ of atrocities in Palestine on one occasion. Ward has been roundly condemned overnight. Grants Shapps, the Conservative Party Chairman, accused Ward of ‘inciting violence’, while Fleet Street reports that Ward may face internal disciplinary action. But, not all Liberal Democrats have rounded on Ward. On the contrary, Edward McMillan-Scott, a former MEP, leant his support:

David Ward can look after himself. The @BoardofDeputies is a frightful bag of disputatious Jews and the editor of the @JewishChron is a prat

Charming.

Update: Edward McMillan-Scott and David Ward have both apologised for these comments.
