The votes are in for the Guardian staff ballot. After Mr S reported a lacklustre display from all four internal candidates at the hustings, it is Katharine Viner who has come out on top.
Viner, the current editor of Guardian US, is guaranteed a final round interview after winning with over 50 per cent of the vote. Of her rivals, Emily Bell, director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University, placed second, while Janine Gibson, editor-in-chief of the Guardian website, followed close behind in third.

Wolfgang Blau, the only male candidate at hustings, trailed behind in fourth place with just 29 votes out of the 839 placed. Mr S hears that his support for Nick Clegg at hustings played a hand in his fate.
And the results are in. My heartfelt congratulations to Kath Viner (1), Emily Bell (2), Janine Gibson (3). Yours truly. (4) — Wolfgang Blau (@wblau) March 5, 2015
While it looks like Blau is out of the race for good, Viner may well have two new male opponents to face off next in her bid to succeed Alan Rusbridger. Mr S hears that both Robert Peston and Ian Katz have applied for the plum job.
