Oh dear. After months and years of speculation, this morning seven Labour MPs announced that they are quitting the party over Jeremy Corbyn’s unsuitability to be prime minister. Chuka Umunna and Chris Leslie are among the MPs to say they are quitting the party and forming an independent group which is proud to be British and doesn’t blame the world’s problems on the West.
Unsurprisingly the news hasn’t gone down all that well with the Corbynistas. Corbyn allies have been quick to accuse the splitters of ushering years of Tory rule. So, how are the socialists coping with the loss of seven MPs? Mr S will let readers decide:
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, we’ll keep the red flag flying here.

Does the future of UK politics look like a Tony Blair tribute band faffing about WC1, with a handful of policies bought from a pricey American thinktank? Or does it look like a movement of half a million normal people, taking control of their social, political and economic lives.

Oh wow, how much dosh did the splitters waste on a PR outfit? 'The Independent Group'? Seriously? It looks like an insurance company #LabourSplit https://t.co/CT7wIWdRqB

Chris Leslie once said that Jeremy Corbyn’s project would end up handing power to the Tories for another decade.
Quite how this splinter group is going to do anything other than risk exactly that is beyond us.

The 7 Dwarves are merely the first to jump. This has been long-planned and will be the start of something not the end. Be prepared for a co-ordinated choreographed dance of treachery. #ByElectionsNow #LabourSplinter #DanceOfThe7Veils

This morning is of major concern to everyone concerned about technological employment.
Seven Labour MPs appear to have automated de-selection.

Momentum responds:
I’d like to apologise to the constituents of the 7 Blair Rich Project members who thought they were voting for an MP that believed in our brilliant, transformative 2017 manifesto. I’m sorry they have let you down and won’t offer you a by-election. We will put this right for you.

The 'Independent' Group isn’t just an attack on Jeremy's policies For the Many, Not the Few. It's a direct attack on the Labour Party.
Chuka's vision for a coalition with Tories and Lib Dems is not the solution.
A radical Labour government is. We'll keep fighting for that. ✊🌹
