Labour frontbencher resigns over Syria

Labour MP Jim Fitzpatrick has tonight resigned from his party’s frontbench over the Syria vote, his party confirmed. The shadow transport minister told the Commons this evening that he felt his party’s amendment was still too open to military intervention. He said:

‘I have problems – for the honourable gentleman’s information – both with the Government motion and the Opposition amendment.
