Given the frequency of shadow cabinet reshuffles under Jeremy Corbyn, even the most eagle-eyed Westminster residents now have difficulty identifying who makes up Labour’s frontbench. However, up until now Mr S had thought that the party at least knew.
Alas not. Steerpike has been passed an internal Labour party email sent on Friday which details a lucrative job vacancy as a ‘political advisor to the shadow secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs’:

Location: Westminster
Salary: Dependent on experience
Duration: Fixed term contract for the period only that Grahame Morris is the Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Political Advisor to the Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The post holder will provide policy research, support and analysis in the given policy area to the Shadow Cabinet member, frontbench team and the Leader of the Labour Party, as part of the Policy Directorate.

But there’s a problem. The advert says it is a fixed term contract for the period that Grahame Morris is in the role. Yet Morris, who is on leave, is not the shadow Defra secretary. Instead it’s Sue Hayman, who was appointed the brief this month after Rachel Maskell quit over the Article 50 vote:
To be fair, given that over a third of the PLP have now served since Corbyn became leader, it was really only a matter of time until brains at Labour started to get confused.
