Sturgeon’s separatist scheme confirmed by Covid probe

No wonder so many SNP politicians deleted their WhatsApp messages: they really are rather damning. In today’s Covid hearings, former Nicola Sturgeon aide Liz Lloyd is being grilled by the bulldog-like Jamie Dawson KC. If the Dear Leader’s liberal cussing wasn’t bad enough, the Inquiry has now unearthed some startling admissions…

Throughout the pandemic, the-then First Minister sought to present herself as a unifying ‘national’ figure above petty party politics. But back in November 2020, Sturgeon discussed a UK government proposal with one of her closest confidants. She begrudgingly admits that ‘on this, I (reluctantly) think there’s merit in UK-wide position’. Whatever happened to fostering constructive cross-party relations…

Sturgeon’s natural disdain for working with the UK government was a constant theme throughout the pandemic, according to the newly-released messages. On the issue of the furlough scheme – which saved the jobs of a million Scots – Lloyd messaged Sturgeon to confess: ‘My reason for setting a timeline for them to answer us on furlough is purely political.’ She went on: ‘Think I just want a good old fashioned rammy so can think about something other than sick people.’ To which Sturgeon replies: ‘Yeah I get it. And it might be worth doing.’ So much for non-partisan, eh?

It does, to say the least, make for grim reading. Sturgeon’s potty mouth isn’t pretty and neither is the sentiments of her top team. But Mr S isn’t particularly surprised that not even a global pandemic could persuade the Nats to pause their separatist agenda.

Still, at least it’s their in black and white. Unlike answers on the missing £600k…
