The Spectator is delighted to introduce its revamped online presence.
You’ll have noticed the revamped design. But let me explain some of the other changes. We’ve restructured the content to make it easier for readers to navigate the site. Magazine articles are now arranged in the same manner as their printed counterparts. The full magazine content is available exclusively to subscribers, and non-subscribers can join us by following this link. Our array of blogs and bloggers remains free to access.
We say goodbye to a few features of the old site, but I’m pleased to announce the arrival of two new bloggers. Contributing Editor Douglas Murray will be tackling religion and foreign affairs, while ‘Steerpike’ is taking up the reins as our in-house gossip columnist.
The commenting system has been upgraded to encourage greater and faster interaction for users. There is also a sign-in facility through Facebook and Twitter. And we’ve given our podcast a home of its own; with embedded players so that you can listen to it anywhere on the site.
As with all major technological undertakings, there will be bugs and tweaks to address. We’ll be making continual improvements to the site over the next few weeks. As ever, we value our readers’ opinions above all else, so please tell us what you think.
Since the Spectator was first issued in 1828 (pictured above), the format has changed but the content has remained constant. We hope that you will enjoy the new website.
UPDATE: After their slight absence, the Bridge, Crossword, Competition and Chess sections have returned. Thank you for all the feedback, we’ll fix and adjust as much as possible.
