After months of dreadful headlines, U-turns and bungled briefings, Budget day is finally here. Rachel Reeves has said the tax rises she is due to announce in the Commons from 12.30 p.m. are ‘fair and necessary’. The Chancellor is expected to:
- Slap higher taxes on £2m-plus houses, electric cars and pension contributions
- Freeze income tax thresholds until 2030
- Scrap the two-child benefit cap
- Increase the minimum wage
