Tony Radakin – Putin’s war is a ‘strategic failure’

With the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II taking place tomorrow, it is no surprise that warm words and condolences have taken up so much of the airwaves since her death was announced ten days ago. However, amid the tributes, the world has continued to march on, and few have marched more relentlessly than the Ukrainian army. With their recent counter-offensive against Russian occupation proving so successful, Laura Kuenssberg sat down with Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the chief of the Defence Staff, to discuss their progress:

Kuenssberg spoke to New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern about comments she had made in the last week about the inevitability of her country becoming a republic, even if Ardern had no plans to make the changes herself:

Sheikh Hasina – ‘It is my struggle to establish a democratic system’

Kuenssberg also interviewed Sheikh Hasina Wajed, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She asked Sheikh Hasina if she would publicly commit to holding free and fair elections in her country next year, after the 2018 results were called into question:

John Kerry – King Charles ‘is for real’ on the environment

The United States’s climate envoy John Kerry put a vote of confidence in the new King Charles III when Kuenssberg asked him if His Majesty should give an address at COP27 in Egypt, which will take place in November:

John Sentamu – ‘You will be lifted to glory’

And finally, the former Archbishop of York John Sentamu spoke about the preparations made for the Queen’s funeral over many years as part of Operation London Bridge. He said that tomorrow’s events would be spectacular, not least since the Queen personally had no time for ‘long, boring services’:
