The British National Party found itself back in the news today after years in the wilderness. However, it was bad news once again for the beleaguered party — the Electoral Commission had removed them from the register of political parties. While the decision was met with cheers by many, it hardly came as a surprise given the party’s difficulties in recent months. In the general election, they fielded only eight candidates as their vote share dived by 99.7 per cent.
Despite this, the celebrations may have been somewhat pre-emptive as the party have now hit back. They says that they are definitely not over. Instead, they simply encountered a ‘small clerical error’ which led to the party being knocked off the electoral register list. This clerical error appears to consist of not paying the £25 re-registration fee or filing the necessary paperwork to stay on the list.
Lots of media coverage over a small clerical error from a party that is supposed to be dead in the water. Re-registering now with the EC.

While one could make the point that the party don’t seem to be on fighting form given they can’t even manage to do their paperwork on time, a spokesman says they should be back up and running as of next week. It appears that they have managed to gather the necessary £25 and are in the process of re-registering.
Hope we get as much coverage when we re-register. Without the #bnp there would be no real opposition. I reckon we would be missed.

And there was Mr S thinking party members were packing it all in so they could follow their former boss Nick Griffin into the food industry.
